Mardi Gras 2012
Mardi Gras Parade
February 18, 2012
3:00 p.m.
Main Street and Town Center
All Volunteers & Parade Entries Welcome!
The parade line-up begins at 2:00 p.m. near the Concrete Post Office, in preparation for the 3:00 p.m. start. All parade entries and spectators are asked to travel to and then gather in Town Center, where an impromptu party will be held. No fee to enter the parade, everyone is welcome to join in the fun! Mardi Gras colors are encouraged (not really required): green, gold, and purple.
To be eligible for prizes, all parade people need to complete the entry form (below) and turn it in to the Parade Coordinator, Jason Rider. Prizes include: An overnight stay at the North Cascades Institute, gift certificates to Annie’s Pizza Station and Perks Espresso & Deli, and movie tickets from the Concrete Theatre.
There will be an Oreo Stacking Contest for the kids, and quite possibly some mask-making activities, too.
The Concrete Heritage Museum will be selling King Cupcakes in Town Center. Buy a treat, win a prize!
Cafe Burlington will have a mobile cafe on site, selling some wonderfully authentic crawfish dinners.
Cajun Burgers will be available at Cascade Burgers (on Highway 20 near the silos).
We’re also pleased to announce that the newest business in town – The Washington Cafe & Bakery – will be holding their grand opening on this day. Please help us welcome Melissa and Mike Swanberg and their sons to the community, and plan to stop by for some authentic New Orleans treats. The new restaurant is located in the historic TP Inn building on Main Street and will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Their phone number is 360-853-7723.
