Main Street, Concrete Washington

On Saturday, July 4 a “reverse parade” will take place on Main Street. We’re calling it the Concrete Caravan!

Everyone will stay safely in their cars while traveling the route on Main Street, from the Community Garden to Town Center and back.  Along the way, you’ll see fire trucks, Uncle Sam, decorated businesses, and representatives from local organizations.

Everyone will stay safely in their cars.

TREATS!
Near the library, you’ll be able to buy cotton candy ($3) and in Town Center, you can treat yourself to popcorn 🍿 or ice cream 🍨 at the Concrete Theatre (each $5 while supplies last), served at curbside, or a taco ($2) from the LoneStar Restaurant.

LIVE MUSIC!
Then cruise around Bear Square to enjoy live music provided by Marcia Kester, a popular musician known for her upbeat personality, before returning to the starting place.

Everyone can be part of the fun. If you have a business or residence along Main Street, you’re encouraged to decorate or be out front with a flag.

NOTES:

START at station #1, near the Community Garden! Look for the volunteers from KSVU. Remember: the action starts at 2:00 p.m. – please wait near the Community Garden (or park in Silo Park) until then. This is designed to be a slow-moving caravan! Take your time, enjoy seeing your friends and neighbors along the way.

When you see the fire truck at station #2, wave and cheer. At station #3, you’ll get to see some special animals with the 4-H club. At station #4, Post 132 of the American Legion will be in front of the Post Office presenting  the colors. They will also have a limited number of small 3inch x 5inch flags to hand out.  If you hold up a photo of a family member currently serving in uniform, you can also receive a Blue Star plaque, while the limited supply lasts.

Wave to Uncle Sam at station #5 near Town Hall – maybe he’ll make a speech!

Look for the bus drivers from the Concrete School District at station #6 and smile at the Sheriff’s Deputy at station #7.

At station #8, Cotton Candy will be available  – suggested donation $3; proceeds benefit the Upper Skagit Library. Wave at the happy SaviBank employees at station #9.

As you arrive at station #10, you enjoy live music provided by Marcia Kester!!

While you listen to Marcia sing her heart out, be ready to order your hot buttered popcorn or a dish of ice cream at station #11, the Concrete Theatre – each treat is $5, exact change is deeply appreciated.

Hungry? At station #12, you can pick up a taco for $2 from the LoneStar Restaurant.

At station #13, shout hello to the volunteers from the Concrete Heritage Museum and as you cruise around the block and head back to the start, wave to the ambulance personnel from Aero-Skagit, #14.

Everyone can be part of the fun.  If you have a business or residence along Main Street, you’re encouraged to decorate and be out front with a flag.
